Workshop on Mediterranean Spring Ecosystems
Mediterranean spring ecosystems: functioning and threats due to global change
Last week, we organised a workshop on mediterranean spring ecosystems in order to write a review paper discussing their functioning, biodiversity and the problems of conservation they may face due to global change. We spent two days in Can Boet (Mataró) discussing the current available knowledge about spring ecosystems and writing the first draft of the manuscript. On Friday, some of us went for a field trip to visit several springs in Argentona (including the famous Font Picant) and in Olzinelles (Montnegre).
The workshop was organised by Drs. Estela Romero and Marcos Fernández-Martínez and was funded by CREAF’s Severo Ochoa Synthesis Actions. The workshop was co-organsied by the Delegació de la Serralada Litoral Central, from the Institució Catalana d'Història Natural and had the support of Mataró’s city council and its Department of Culture, who provided the venue.
Long live, spring ecosystems!
